Ba-Boy

When did you step back and analyze you work during this project?
Throughout the process of my printmaking, I stepped back and looked at my piece, and I tried to determine where to go from my current piece. This was necessary during the process, in order to ensure that my piece would flow and that the colors would stand out and work together. 

Did you consider how ideas would work before you tried them?
Before I began to print, I made sure that I knew which color I would use for every layer, and which pieces of the minion would go with each color.This helped make sure that I had a plan on paper and in my mind before I tried to put this plan to life. 

Did you ask another student for feedback during your work process?
Throughout the process, I periodically asked my table-mates what they thought of my piece. I also asked them for advice on my title/

Did someone help you understand important information or inspire you?
I absolutely adore minions, but it especially inspired me when people complimented my print. When people complimented my print, I was reassured that it looked good, and this inspired me to continue working hard.

In progress: For the color project, I picked the theme "explore". My piece is an illustration of a dream catcher, and I incorporated the idea of exploring dreams in my piece. I picked colored pencils to produce my piece, and I got the chance to use the Prisma Colors. I chose to use colored pencils on a black background because it really adds a "pop". Currently, my only main difficulty was deciding what to do for this project.

Finished: My piece successfully "pops" and I am proud of the details in my feathers, as well as the intensity of the colors inner part of the dream catcher.  If I could change one thing about my piece, I would definitely add more feathers to the dream catcher. By doing this project, I learned that art does not always have to be on a white background. The color of the background can be a great determining aspect of a piece. Also, I really enjoyed using the Prisma colors!

Origami Piece

My definition of art: Art is communication in the form of expression. It is a universal language, and it connects people from all kinds of backgrounds, ethnicity, and cultures.
Although this meme is not technically "beautiful", it can still be considered art because it is a form of communication.

All things considered, I am proud of how my piece turned out. I am most proud of the bottom half (the one with the intricate tree). I felt rushed on the top half, and therefore it didn't turn out as well as I would have liked. If I could change one thing, I would definitely have preferred to be able to take more time to shade and add depth to my piece. I have incorporated the theme two in one because one tree can have two different meanings, and can evoke two different emotions. Beauty is in everything, and I tried to show that with my piece. 

My project is incorporating the theme of "Two In One" through combining two separate tree scenes, incorporating the idea that there is more to something or someone than what meets the eye. The top part of the piece is seemingly lifeless, and boring, while the bottom half is complex and elegant. Although the piece could be thought of as two separate trees, it could also be thought of as one. When you look at the top of the piece as a dull tree, you can see the bottom half as it's roots. In contrast, when you look at the complex part as the top of the piece, you see the dull tree as it's roots. I am using graphite/pencil to create my art piece. So far, I am having a bit of trouble determining correct proportions for my piece.
